The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) announced the launch of its pilot trial of the virtual inspection service, as part of larger plans to expand the delivery of electronic services, in line with the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s digital transformation plans, and to re-engineer work procedures to make the most of technological developments for the end users.
H.E. Mr. Nibras Talib, CEO of LMRA, said that the Authority continually upgrades all its procedures to provide ease of access to its services and enables faster transaction time with a high level of efficiency and quality, pointing out that piloting new services and testing them with the public on a trial basis gives LMRA great feedback to make the services more useful and accessible, noting that the service will be officially launched by the end of this year.
Deputy CEO for Enforcement and Protection sector at the LMRA, Mrs. Noora Mubarak, explained that the virtual inspection service represent an electronic channel targeting employers wishing to save time and efforts. The virtual inspection service is designed to allow employers to reconcile electronically or remove the administrative notes listed on their commercial records without having to be present at the authority’s premises or waiting for an appointment for the physical inspection visit, as the employer may submit the application through the electronic support system “E-Support” or by personal attendance at the authority to schedule an appointment, and receive the virtual inspection’s link via email.
She added that this service will enable the judicial officers at the Authority’s front desks to communicate with the employer via video conference technology to verify compliance and correct status of the establishment directly. To benefit from this virtual service, the employer will need a smart device equipped with a camera (computer, smartphone, tablet) with the Zoom application installed, and having the device connected to a high-quality Internet network and must adhere to the specified virtual inspection time.
The Authority is also in the process of launching a number of initiatives that will provide electronic services in its journey to digital transformation, the most prominent of which is the e-settlement service, which aims to settle violations for which settlements are legally permissible and pay the prescribed settlement amounts electronically without the need for physical presence, noting that this service is currently in the testing stage.
