His Excellency Mr. Nibras Talib, CEO of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) and Chairman of the National Committee for Combatting Trafficking in Persons, attended the ceremony honouring participants in the recent Training of Trainers Programme to Combat Trafficking in Persons in its latest edition, which was organized by the LMRA’s Regional Centre of Excellence and Capacity Building for Combatting Trafficking in Persons, in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

Fifteen trainees from various sectors and government agencies took part in the programme, including the media sector, the medical sector, as well as employees of ports and public security, and the inspection and criminal justice sectors.

HE the CEO stressed the importance of building capacities in the field of combatting trafficking in persons, specifically of frontliners in areas of identification and detecting victims and potential victims of trafficking in persons.

The training program consisted of seven training modules that includes training skills, concepts and trends of trafficking, legal frameworks understanding trauma and victim-centric care, victim identification and screening, psychological first aid, as well as working with interpreters.

LMRA works through the Regional Centre of Excellence and Capacity Building for Combatting Trafficking in Persons to upgrade skills and capabilities in the various sectors through the Training of Trainers (ToT) programme to provide a solid pool of qualified certified trainers. The Centre is deemed as a house of expertise and training in the field of combating trafficking in persons in the region, through an appropriate intervention method, as well as building the capacities of target groups from different fields of frontline workers in areas of identification of potential victims.
