The Chief Executive of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) Nouf Abdulrahman Jamsheer received the Director General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Antonio Vitorino at LMRA’s Headquarter.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of IOM, Othman Belbeisi, the Regional Director for Middle East and North Africa, Hassan Abdel Moneim Mosatafa, the Director General Senior Regional Advisor for MENA, Mohamed El Zarkani, the Chief of Mission to the Kingdom of Bahrain and Sary Al Asiri, the Policy Assistant, in the presence of the United Nations Resident Coordinator in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Khaled El-Mekwad and LMRA’s officials.
Both parties discussed ways to strengthen the relationship between LMRA and IOM in the areas related to training and exchange of expertise in protecting labour rights and combatting trafficking in persons, which aim to improve the work environment and preserve the rights of work parties, as well as offering comprehensive mechanisms to protect workers from all forms of exploitation and trafficking.
Jamsheer underscored the importance of the partnership between the IOM and the Regional Centre of Excellence and Capacity Building for Combatting Trafficking in Persons in offering technical support for building the capacity of first responders in the identification of forced labour and labour exploitation, in addition to developing training programs. She affirmed the importance of continuously expanding cooperation with IOM in all areas of mutual interest.
