75 Participants from Government & Non-Government Entities
The Regional Center of Excellence (RCoE) and Capacity Building for Combatting Trafficking in Persons at the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) conducted multiple interviews with candidates from the relevant entities during (4) days in order to finalize the list of successful candidates (30) whom have met the standards to participate in the 2nd session of Training of Trainers Program in partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
75 representatives were interviewed from the government and non-governmental entities including the medical sector, the Supreme Judicial Council, the Ministry of Interior represented by the “The Royal Academy of Police” and the “Public Security”, the Ministry of Justice and Islamic Affairs and Waqf, the Ministry of Labour, the Ministry of Social Development, the Ministry of Information, the University of Bahrain, in addition to the Labour Market Regulatory Authority, Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) and Bahrain Airport Services Company (BAS).
The training programs seeks to improve the competence and capability of frontline workers in areas of identification and handling victims and potential victims of trafficking in persons.
The program is designed to build the training capacity in the participants to qualify them to train other employees in their respective sectors in accordance with international practices.
Moreover, the program aims to strengthen the frameworks of combatting the crime of trafficking in persons in all its forms by enhancing the skills and capabilities of national competencies who encounter or handle victims or potential victims of trafficking through methodological strategies in collaboration with the IOM.
The program includes sessions on Training Skills, Concepts and Trends of Trafficking, Legal Frameworks, Understanding Trauma and Victim-Centric Care, Victim Identification and Screening, Psychological First Aid, and Working with Interpreters.
The RCoE is deemed as a pioneer in the field of combatting trafficking in persons in the GCC region. It works to produce qualified trainers who are specialized in the field of combatting trafficking and develops training programs and curricula related to victims’ psychology, proper methods of intervention. Additionally, it fosters capacity building of a target category from different sectors and fields whom encounter or handle victims or potential victims of human trafficking. This significant role is accomplished through collaborations with several specialized national experts and practitioners.
The training of trainers program is one of RCoE’s specialized programs, which aims to develop and provide training programs that are correspondent with the demographic, economic, and social composition of the field of combatting trafficking in person in the region. Furthermore, the Regional Centre works on preparing scientific studies and research in this field, and will work on developing region-specific guideline that will illustrate the methodology of dealing with issues of combatting trafficking in persons along with region-based recommendation to tackle this international issues.
