The CEO of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), Nouf Abdulrahman Jamsheer, conducted a series of meetings with officials from the United States State Department, in Washington D.C.

Her Excellency met with the Acting Director and Principal Deputy of the Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons at the US State Department, Dr Kari Johnstone, the Director of the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labour Steve Moody, and the Director of the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs Marty Dale.

During the meetings, Jamsheer highlighted the ongoing reforms to Bahrain’s Labour Market, including implementing the Wage Protection System, and introducing the Labour Registration Program in collaboration with the private sector.

The CEO also outlined the Kingdom of Bahrain’s efforts in combatting trafficking in persons and the mechanisms and initiatives to provide protection to workers through the Expat Protection Centre, the first comprehensive and specialized centre in the Middle East concerned with the protection of expatriate workers.

Jamsheer stressed on the importance of the exchange of expertise in developing procedures and regulations that contribute to enhancing the workplace environment, affirming the Kingdom’s commitment to further develop cooperation with the US in this regard.
