Labour Market Regulatory Authority: Eight Agencies Reported for Labour Market Violations

The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) conducted an inspection campaign, in cooperation with the General Directorate of Crime Detection and Forensic Evidence, and the Nationality Passports and Residence Affairs of the Ministry of Interior.

The campaign resulted in reporting eight violating agencies that supply domestic labour on an hourly basis without a license from the Authority. They were referred to the concerned authorities for legal action.

‎‏16 expatriate workers were arrested for violating the provisions of the Labour Market and Residency Laws in the Kingdom of Bahrain, including domestic expatriate employees who are in violation of their work permits.

‎‏The Authority affirmed the importance of the community’s role in supporting the efforts of government agencies to combat illegal labour practices, stressing the need to only deal with employment offices and approved supply agencies, which are updated weekly on the website.

‎‏The Authority also called on the public to report any violations related to the labour market and illegal employment by filling out the electronic form on the LMRA website, or by calling the authority’s call center 17506055.
