His Excellency Interior General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa received Minister of Labour and Social Development H.E Mr. Jameel Humaidan, CEO of Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) and Chairman of the National Anti-Human Trafficking Committee H.E Mr. Jamal AlAlawi on Wednesday. The Chief of Public Security, Lt-General Tariq Al Hassan, attended.
He welcomed the attendees, valuing the successes of Bahrain in combating human trafficking, including keeping its position in Tier 1 in the US Department of State Trafficking in Persons (TiP) Report.
He said that the meeting was part of efforts to implement the directives of the Cabinet to reinforce coordination in the fight against human trafficking. He highlighted the dedication of the Interior Ministry in enforcing the law and backing efforts of bodies concerned. He stressed the significance of joint work and coordination within the committee’s operations.
The Interior Ministry has taken a series of initiatives and steps to protect human rights and fight human trafficking, including launching a specialised directorate and a hotline (555) to receive cases.
The meeting reviewed efforts and projects of Bahrain to protect its regional and international positions, increase inspection campaigns, and study the flexible visa. The meeting was also attended by the Director-General of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science.
