Manama, July 5 (BNA): Chief Executive Officer of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), H.E Mr. Jamal Abdulaziz Al Alawi, has affirmed LMRA’s keenness to develop the work environment, and provide all regulations that contribute to protecting the rights of workers.

Al Alawi made the statements while meeting remotely the Bangladeshi Ambassador to Bahrain, Dr. Mohammed Nazrul Islam, with whom he discussed the conditions of the expatriate Bangladeshi workers in Bahrain, stressing the importance of cooperation between the embassies of labour exporting countries with the kingdom’s efforts to regulate the labour market by raising the awareness of the expatriate workforce about the systems and legislation in force in Bahrain.

LMRA chief reviewed the projects and initiatives launched by LMRA, particularly the Wage Protection System under which private sector employers are obliged to pay the salaries of their workers through the approved financial and banking institutions.

He asserted that the new system is among the initiatives aimed at developing the work environment, noting that it is expected to contribute to reducing wage-related labour issues.

The envoy lauded Bahrain’s regulatory and legislative environment that seeks to protect all workers and ensure fairness for them, praising the Wage Protection System that protects workers’ rights and ensures that they receive their monthly salaries on time.

He also praised LMRA’s role in raising workers’ awareness, and keenness to inform them about the labour market’s system, as well as about their legal status, rights and duties upon their arrival to the kingdom.

He affirmed the Bangladesh Embassy’s constant cooperation with Bahrain’s labour-related efforts.
