The overall number of illegal migrants in Bahrain has reached 67,689.
These represent 11.3 per cent of the total number of documented workers and licensed foreign business owners (531,747), said Labour and Social Development Minister Jameel Humaidan, citing the Labour Market Regulatory Authority’s (LMRA) database of February 7, 2021.

He made the statement in reply to a question by Shura Council member Redha Munfaredi on the issue of illegal expatriate workforce.
He said 176 inspection campaigns were conducted in 2018, 2019 and 2020 which resulted in the arrest of 3,357 irregular workers.
