Bahrain’s success to maintain Tier 1 Status praised

Labour and Social Development Minister Jamil bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) Board Chairman, hailed Bahrain’s achievement to maintain for the second year in a row its Tier 1 status in the US State Department’s 2019 Trafficking in Persons (TIP) report in the Middle East and North Africa region. He said the kingdom has been able to maintain its well-deserved international status in combating human trafficking thanks to its advanced legal and institutional infrastructure to improve the work environment and protect the labour force.

 

The Labour and Social Development Minister extended congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, describing the accomplishment as one of the dividends of the kingdom’s comprehensive development march in the prosperous era of HM the King. He praised the close follow-up and valuable directives of HRH the Crown Prince to the National Committee to Combat Trafficking in Persons which helped achieve the best practices in regulating the labour market and protecting the workers’ rights. He also underscored Bahrain’s commitment to honouring its obligations and confronting decisively all forms of exploitation and human trafficking. He lauded the role of the National Committee to Combat Trafficking in Persons in this respect.
