Ausamah bin Abdullah Al Absi, the Chief Executive of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) and Chairman of the National Anti-Trafficking in Persons Committee has received a delegation from the Migrants Forum in Asia (MFA) headed by the forum’s Regional Coordinator William Gois.
Al Absi reviewed Bahrain’s efforts in advancement of the labour market in harmony with the kingdom’s policies that ensure the protection of expatriate workers, including the establishment of the all-in-one Protection & Support Centre for Expatriate Workers that provides comprehensive protective and guidance services to expatriate workers and accommodates victims or persons vulnerable to human trafficking.
He also briefed the visiting delegation about the (Flexible Permit) that allows the adjustment of illegal workers status in accordance with the applicable regulations.
The delegation paid a field tour to the Accommodation Centre for Expatriate Workers, and were briefed about cases of suspected human trafficking victims and how they are dealt with.
The delegation also visited the LMRA’s branch in Sitra where the Flexible Work Permits (FWPs) are issued. The delegation also viewed the procedures and the steps of issuance of FWPs.
