Labour and Social Development Minister, Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, has led the kingdom’s delegation to the 106th Session of the International Labour Conference, held in Geneva from June 4 to 16, with the participation of labour ministers from all over the world, as well as labour trade unions, experts, and representatives of the relevant organisations.

The kingdom’s delegation comprises representatives of the government, business owners (represented by the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, BCCI), as well as those of workers.

Bahrain’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations and International organisations, Yusuf Abdul Karim Bucheeri, Labour and Social Development Ministry’s officials and other relevant government departments also participated in the conference.

The minister, in a statement, said that Bahrain’s participation in the conference in within the framework of its constant cooperation with the International Community to achieve development goals.

He asserted that the kingdom plays an influential role in the meetings of International Labour Conference given the confidence of the International Community in its labour policies, and in its projects aimed at reforming the labour market.

The “Green Jobs Initiative”, migration, climate change, women at work, application of labour standards, peace and stability are among the issues to be discussed by the 106th Session of the International Labour Conference.
