Ms Al Saffar urges youth participation in the Community Awareness competition

The LMRA Public and Media Manager Ms. Hana Al Saffar has urged all local youth and expats residing in Bahrain to participate in the Bahrain Award for Community Awareness (Human Too) being organized by the LMRA in order to instill the culture of respect for rights and duties of Expatriate workers who make up an important part of the society in Bahrain.Ms Al Saffar said that a number of universities and schools have shown their interest to participate as teams of students representing them along with individuals participation and independent teams.

She drew attention to the fact that the competition in its first edition this year has chosen the subject “paying domestic workers on time” as its theme. Every year the award will chose a competition theme as a means of raising community awareness. She added that the Award committee has allocated a total amount of 21 Thousand dinars in cash prizes this year with two prizes for Creative excellence presented by MasterCard.

She said the growth in the number of expatriate workers has led the LMRA to work even harder to raise the level of awareness of the community to include every member of the family unit , in order to further build on the achievements of the Kingdom with regards to the development of the importance of human rights and the highlight the issues faces by this class of the society in line with the other authorities concerned with affairs of the expatriate workers.

Ms. Al Safar pointed out that the concept of the competition is for youth from the age of 16 to 26 to compile a short movie or photograph or poster or artwork etc.. that would deliver the theme message with high impact and long lasting effect to the Bahraini families and residents to urge them to pay the salaries of domestic workers regularly.

She clarified that the Organizing committee saw it necessary to focus on the youth since this segment of the society is highly creative and innovative in using different means to communicate the message easily and with high impact and conviction.

Ms al Saffar once again urged the youth to participate and to submit their works before the end of registration and submission in the middle of March 2015 and the works submitted will be scrutinized according to the terms and conditions of the competition and the shortlisted candidates will be announced on the 1st of April 2015 and they move to the final stage when the door opens for promoting their own works via the social media.

She continued that the promotions stage will continue via the social media and by public voting on the website until May 2015 which is a one and half month period when the judging committee will evaluate the works and determine the 5 Winners and the two winners in the MasterCard Creative excellence prize.
