With the end of Easy Exit scheme on Friday, the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) officials, along with thier counterparts in other departments are back in action to identify the illegal workers.

Introduced in the middle of last year, the scheme was introduced to provide the irregular workers chance to leave the kingdom without any fuss.

Over 8,000 such workers, including 5,700 from Bangladesh, round 3,000 from India and around 400 from Pakistanl, Sri Lanka and Philipines benefited from the scheme.

The government has constituted two dozen teams to conduct inspections round – the – clock to trace irregular workers and send them back to their respective countries.

” The teams are already working and as the scheme has come to an end, the option of paying fines and leaving Bahrain does not exist,” senior LMRA officials told DT.

According to the officials, law will now take its own course as the government has already provided a chance to these workers leave the kingdom.

” Ation will be taken as per the law if anyone is found working without valid work permits.

Even Companies, which hire these workers, will not be spared and they would be fined BD 1,000 per employee without proper documents,” the officials said.
