An Open House to disseminate information on the Easy Exit scheme was hosted by the Embassy of Thailand yesterday, at Pong Thai Restaurant in Hoora.
Present at the event was Suphat Chitranukroh, Thai Ambassador and embassy officials. “We are distributing applications for the Easy Exit scheme and explaining the procedures to our nationals,” the envoy told the Bahrain Tribune.
He added that many of his countrymen already availed of the clemency and the embassy had initiated the Open House to increase awareness on the scheme.
The Tribune had reported on Thursday about 250 Thai nationals leaving the Kingdom under the Easy Exit scheme. A Thai Embassy official had said that the number was based on information received from the immigration office. In addition, about 52 people had applied for clemency at the Embassy.
Temporary travel permits had been issued for these applicants.
Chitranukroh said yesterday that another Open House will be held at Wang Thai Restaurant in Adliya, next Friday.
An estimated 2,400 Thai nationals are residing in the Kingdom on work visas. But the total number is expected to be higher as they can enter Bahrain via a visit visa on arrival, the Tribune was told
