BAHRAIN launched a cosmopolitan multilingual website which can be translated into more than 50 languages.Labour Minister and Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) chairman Dr Majeed Al Alawi yesterday patronised the launch ceremony.
Chief executive officer Ali Ahmed Radhi and senior officials attended the ceremony at the LMRA headquarters in Sanabis. “The world-standard www.lmra.bh is compliant with IT software designed for the blind and the short-sighted,” LMRA media and communication director Waheed Al Balooshi said.
He described the site as the first governmental portal of its kind in the Middle East. The third edition is also compliant with all search engines, including Internet Explorer, Safari, Opera and Google Chrome.
“Expatriates can access the website and ensure their legal status in Bahrain,” Mr Al Balooshi said.The portal would also be useful to employers as it provides a variety of services and instructions.
Surfers can also be updated on the current trends in the labour market in Bahrain.The portal is also linked with the LMRA social networking sites, including the media blog, Facebook, Twitter, Flicker and YouTube.
“Thousands of Bahrainis and expatriates already surf the site daily,” Mr Al Balooshi said. Dr Al Alawi praised Bahraini IT specialists for the designing of the cutting-edge website.
“The new portal is a quantum leap forward for the concept of e-government,” he said.The old www.lmra.bh edition has already scooped several local and international awards.
